Are there any conditions that we should know about?
These frequently asked questions are here to assist you. You should read the policy carefully to make sure it suits your requirements. The policy wording is available on the web site. As with all insurance policies there are conditions: for example there are excesses under most sections of the policy, and you are signing, electronically, to confirm that you abide by the conditions. It is a serious offence to misrepresent material facts under an insurance contract (i.e. you confirm, in signing, that there are no pre-existing medical reasons increasing the risk of treatment being required away from home).
I didn't have time to book my travel insurance policy before I travelled. Can I arrange cover now, even though I'm abroad?
No. Cover is only available in Australia at the time of booking the policy.
Do I need to take my travel insurance policy with me when I travel?
Yes. This documentation provides you with information and emergency telephone numbers you may need whilst travelling. It will also provide details of any supporting documentation that may be required in the event of a claim (i.e. loss reports, receipts etc.)
How will I receive my travel insurance policy documents?
A printable version of your policy will become available once the online booking process is complete. You will also receive an e-mailed copy to the e-mail address entered into the application, which will include your insurance certificate, important policy notes and a copy of the full terms and conditions.
How do I view the e-mailed version of my travel insurance policy?
You will need a current version (4 or above) of Adobe Acrobat Reader to open the attachments. To download the latest version, please click here
What can I do to make sure that nobody sees the financial information I input into the site?
All the information you provide is encrypted, meaning it is secure against possible interception.
I have a medical condition. Will this be covered under my travel insurance policy?
No. The policy does not provide cover for any pre-existing medical condition. A medical condition is any medical condition which has been suffered or which is under review (routine or otherwise), or for which medication, advice or treatment has been received within the last 12 months (prior to the date your policy is issued). This includes long standing conditions as well as injuries.
I've recently found out that I'm pregnant. Is this covered?
No. However, you can still purchase the policy, but any related claims will be excluded.
I'm over 64 years of age. Can you offer me a travel insurance policy?
Unfortunately, we cannot cover you for travel as we have an upper age limit of 64 years.
I have more than 8 adults travelling in my party, but I am unable to enter all the details on the same quote. What can I do?
You cannot include more than 8 adults on the same policy. If your party includes more than 8 adults they will need individual policies.
I turn 65 during the period of cover. Does this invalidate my travel insurance policy?
No, your policy will continue to run until the date of expiry.
My eldest son will turn 19 whilst we are away. Will that make a difference to the insurance premium?
No. It is the age at the time of booking the policy that is required and not the age at the time of travel.
If I buy a family insurance policy are we covered when travelling alone?
Yes, providing that all family members are named on the policy and the trip dates are the same..
How do I make a claim against my travel insurance policy?
To make a claim you will need to contact the claims department by telephone. Relevant telephone numbers are detailed on your schedule. Visit our Claims page for information about our claims handlers.
What if I want to cancel my travel insurance policy?
If the policy does not meet your requirements a refund of premium can be allowed if your policy is cancelled within 19 days of the issue date and provided the cover period has not started and no claims will be made. Just e-mail a request to our customer service department.
