Tourists urged to travel to Tahiti
20 July 2006  Travel agents and suppliers heard that Tahiti could be the next major holiday destination for Australian travellers, at an event in Bora Bora.

Members of the Tahiti tourist board told delegates that "There's a Tahiti for everyone", with hotels and and accomodation catering for all tastes and price schemes.

Last year the number of Australians visiting the destination rose by a quarter, with current figures suggesting this number will rise by 20 per cent for 2007.

Jonica Paramor, regional director Australia for Tahiti Tourisme, commented: "Tahiti is a great value for money destination when you do a price comparison for the same level of product [at other island destinations], we want to develop product and pricing so it gets picked up on people's radar."

Island tours and shark feeding are among the many attractions Tahiti offers, with thatched roof overwater bungalows offering an original place to stay for those tired of traditional hotel accomodation.

Couples thinking of tying the knot also regard Tahiti as a favoured destination, with the islands offering traditional ceremonies featuring rattan thrones, music and dance.
