Thailand tourism industry remains robust
19 January 2007  Despite a year of upheaval in Thailand, businessmen and holidaymakers, including those with travel insurance, are still electing to fly to the country, it has been claimed.

The Pattaya Daily News reports that the political turmoil culminating in the coup on September 19th and recent bombings, combined with the tsunami in 2004 have affected the tourist industry, but it has showed "amazing resilience".

"Tourism growth is predicted to continue into the future at a reasonably high and sustainable rate through to 2008," the online newspaper reports.

It adds that the health and beauty sector and medical tourism promises more growth for the country, while Thailand is a preferred convention destination for many in Australia.

Pattaya City advises travellers of a range of attractions and activities available in and around the tourist area.

Sightseers can head to Mini Siam and Mini Europe near Pattaya Klang to observe a miniature town to give a snapshot of differing cultures, before checking their travel insurance and heading to a nearby crocodile farm housing over 1,000 crocs.
