Qantas announces launch of First lounges10 May 2007
Holidaymakers travelling first class with Qantas Airways from the end of this month will be able to make use of the firm's newly launched First lounges at airports in Sydney and Melbourne.Opening on May 23rd, the lounges include a number of luxury features for passengers, including those with travel insurance, from waiter service and a Payot Paris day spa to a library and entertainment zone.
John Borghetti, executive general manager of the airline, said: "The services offered in our new lounges will be equal to those found in the world's best five star hotels and restaurants."
He added that the facilities, designed by the acclaimed Marc Newson, had been manufactured by internationally-renowned workers, with music selected to carefully match the atmosphere in each part of the lounges.
Last month, Qantas announced the launch of a GPS landing system using modern technology to make aircraft landings more efficient and accurate with a view to also making its flights more environmentally friendly.
