Europe 'sexiest continent' for Aussie travellers15 December 2006
Aussie holidaymakers wanting a bit of romance on holiday may be planning to purchase travel insurance and head to Europe, as the continent has been declared the sexiest holiday destination for travellers in a recent poll.The survey of 600 Australian travellers by STA Travel found reported that 50 per cent of Australians quizzed believed Europe to be the sexiest continent, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.
Meanwhile, 43 per cent of travellers decided that a deserted beach would be the ideal location for romantic action when on holiday, while trains, boats and planes were listed as venues holidaymakers had enjoyed themselves abroad.
"Other answers involved such diverse destinations as the Himalayas, a volcanic crater in Guatemala and the Glastonbury Festival in England," the newspaper said.
Last year, a survey by Virgin Money Travel Insurance also tipped European destinations for holiday romance, recommending France and Spain alongside "single-heavy hotspots" including Greece, Italy and Turkey.
