Australian fans await World Cup opening08 March 2007
The Cricket World Cup begins next week and a number of Australians, many of whom with Australia travel insurance, will descend on St Kitts for their team's group games.Australia's cricket team take on Scotland, the Netherlands and South Africa on the island on March 14th, 18th and 24th respectively and thousands of fans will make the trip to support their country.
If the country is successful in the first round, fans will then have a variety of other destination options in the later stages of the competition, including Antigua & Barbuda, Guyana or Barbados.
Fans who have bought tickets for the first round of matches may also be eligible for Super Eight tickets, following an announcement from Antigua's local organising committee for the competition yesterday.
Martin Cave, chief cricket operations manager at World Cup Antigua, presented some tickets to fans, telling the Antigua Sun: "If you are unable to collect your tickets and are sending someone else to do so, please give them a letter of authorisation, your date of birth, ID number, confirmation of application and confirmation of allocation."
