Aussies 'not taking full annual leave'
24 May 2007  Despite the widespread conception of Australians as laid-back folk who like nothing more than relaxing in the sun, a recent study has revealed that increased pressures at work mean many are not taking their full allocation of annual leave from their job.

Recently published research sponsored by Expedia reveals that Australians in fact are bottom of the list of western countries for workers taking their full holiday allowance, the Australian Associated Press (AAP) reports.

While Australians receive 18 days off a year on average - the second-least in the developed world - 37 per cent won't use up all this holiday time, compared to 35 per cent of Americans.

The AAP quotes Arthur Hoffman, manager of Expedia, as commenting: "Perhaps the results will encourage Australians to take more holidays in line with the rest of the world."

British travel insurance provider More Than reported that over on the other side of the world, 29 per cent of workers didn't use up all their holiday time during 2006.
